Discipline Act
General Rules & Regulations
- All students of the college must show respect to others. They must treat others, especially differently abled individuals and those belonging to the unprivileged section of the society, with courtesy and consideration.
- Students must attend classes regularly. They should appear in examinations as per schedule, and also participate in college events.
- Students must be punctual in attending class, and in whatever work they undertake.
- Students should try to uphold the perennial values of honesty, integrity and truthfulness. Under no circumstances they should indulge in unfair means in examinations or adopt any form of academic dishonesty.
- Students should not indulge in disruptive behaviour, harass, bully or abuse others, especially freshers.
- Students must maintain cleanliness in the college. They should not spit gutka or betel quid in the corridor.
- Students must take care to use college property and facilities judiciously and properly. They must switch off electric apparatus, like fans, lights, computer, etc. before leaving the room.
- Students must follow these rules and regulations not only within the college, but also outside the campus, since they represent the college also in the broader society.
Disciplinary Procedure:
In case of violation of the rules and regulations, the college can take the following measures:
Investigation: A thorough investigation to gather facts and evidence on the alleged misconduct will be conducted by any one of the following: (i) Discipline Sub-committee (ii) Principal (iii) any person(s) nominated by the Principal.
Notification: The college will inform the student involved in the alleged misconduct and the disciplinary process.
Hearing: The student involved in the alleged misconduct may be asked to present his/her side of the story and respond to the allegations.
Decision: Based on the evidence and information gathered during the investigation, the college will take a decision.
Punitive Measures: If the individual is found to be in violation of the rules, the college will take any one/ a combination of the following punitive measures, which include:
- Warning: The erring student may receive a verbal or written warning.
- Guardian Call: The guardian of the student may be informed about the wrongdoing of the student.
- Probation: The student may be put under probation, and his/ her behaviour will be closely monitored.
- Suspension: Severe violation may cause suspension of the student from class, college activities or he/ she may be debarred from entering the college for a specified period.
- Expulsion: In case of extreme misconduct, the student may be expelled from the college.
Appeals: Students have the right to appeal against the decision to the President of the Governing Body, if they believe that the disciplinary process was unfair or if they have new evidence.
Points to note:
- Students and staff members are encouraged to report any violation of the rules and regulations to the college authorities.
- The college can take the help of external agencies to conduct inquiry or seek relevant information for investigation as and when it deems fit.
- The college reserves the right to amend this Discipline Act as and when it considers necessary.
